We are safely back home in Maine after an amazing trip to Greece. Throughout this project we have been astounded by the generosity and support people have expressed for Portes, and to see the exhibition come together over the past two weeks in Mytilene was an inspiring and humbling experience. Despite the historic events unfolding in Europe and the challenges the citizens of Greece are facing, their support and enthusiasm for this project was undaunted. In our estimation, Portes was a major success in our goals of citizen diplomacy and cultural exchange. At the conclusion of our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting with a group of local artists and set the wheels in motion for the reciprocal exhibition in Portland in the future. The Sister City relationship initiated in 2003 by the Hellenic Society of Maine is alive and well, and we hope the success of Portes indicates a continuing program of exchange between our two great cities.

For more information on the Portland/Mytilene Sister City relationship, check out the Hellenic Society of Maine website and "like" the Hellenic Society of Maine Facebook page. The Hellenic Society of Maine (HSoM) was established for the purpose of preserving and promoting the Greek heritage and culture, and runs a number of cultural programs and events throughout the year.

There are two photo albums of installation and receptions of Portes on the Tetra Projects Flickr page - to view them follow the links on the photo tab.

Thanks to all of the many people who helped make this show possible in the USA and Greece. Efxaristo!
